The Wellington City Council have at last taken significant action to try achieve their 2014 pledge to build 7000 homes in Wellington before 2019.
Between July 2014 and June 2015, 833 consents were issued for new dwellings and residential sections within Wellington, followed by 788 between July 2015 and June 2016.
However most notably 1702 have been issued in this past year between July 2016 and June 2017, with 123 consents issued for residential dwellings in Mt Cook, 137 in Te Aro, and 34 in Woodridge.
It’s expected half these consents will be for apartments, and the remaining half will be for townhouses, providing plenty of opportunity for Wellington investors to expand their rental property portfolio.
